Sobre Senorita Stone

Hello parents and students! I think it's so important to get to know each other in order to have a productive classroom, so I wanted a page about myself.

In April 2007, I graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Michigan School of Education (sorry OSU fans, I have to root for blue!) after completing my student teaching at a local middle school in Michigan. I taught in Reynoldsburg for one year and this will be my second year teaching Spanish at Thomas. I have lived in Spain and in Ecuador through study abroad and volunteering, respectively, and am excited to share my experiences in the classroom.

Here is some more information about me, in the form of question and answer:

Have you ever traveled to a Spanish speaking country? I have done two study abroad programs in Salamanca, Spain in 2005 and 2008 and have spent about six months total in Spain. I also did a volunteer teaching project in Quito, Ecuador in 2006, in addition to touring Puerto Rico, Peru, and Mexico.

Favorite Color? Definitely blue.

Cats or Dogs? I'm a cat person.

What's your favorite movie? I have several favorites, including Moulin Rouge, Garden State, Black Beauty, Goodbye Lenin, L'auberge Espagnole, and Finding Neverland.

Favorite books? "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" are both great books, as is "Le Petit Prince". I'm also a big Harry Potter fan.

What are your favorite TV Shows? I'm mildly addicted to Project Runway. I also love the show "Wonder Years", if anyone remembers it.

Where are you originally from? I grew up in Solon, Ohio...near Cleveland.

What do you like to do besides teach? A bunch of stuff! I love traveling and taking pictures while I travel, especially. I also enjoy sports like horseback riding and downhill skiing.

How do I get you to like me in class? Be yourself and be respectful.

How do students get in trouble? Lack of respect towards me, other students, or the school. Also, if you get Spain and Mexico mixed up, you're asking for trouble =)

What did you do this summer? I went to Spain for two weeks and, among other things, got to see the Running of the Bulls for the first time. I also taught swim lessons through the Worthington Pools and relaxed around Columbus.

For you to get to know me better, I've included a few pictures below:

The first picture is of me and some members of my 2005 program getting lost in Salamanca (I'm on the far right)! The second is of some of my friends and me about to eat an enormous paella in Valencia (I'm in the blue).

The first above picture is of some friends and I in my 2008 program about to eat dinner in Salamanca, Spain. The second is of some friends and I at San Fermin (Running of the Bulls) in Pamplona in 2009.

The first picture is of the Plaza Mayor in Salamanca. The second is of Machu Picchu in Peru.

The first picture is of some kids we met in Peru, near Machu Picchu. The second is of our group about to go mountain biking in Banos, Ecuador.

This picture is of me and some of the kids I worked with in Quito, Ecuador.

The picture above is of my family and I infront of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco in 2008. It was really hot there!

A few years ago, I went parasailing with some friends in Florida. It was actually very relaxing...we thought it would be scary!

When I graduated from the University of Michigan, my friend and I decided to pose for a picture on the Michigan M. Ask me sometime about the story that makes this picture funny to OSU fans...

Here's a picture of my cat, Verdi

Above is one of my Spanish classes at Reynoldsburg in 2008. We had a great time and learned a lot from each other. If you know anybody at Reynoldsburg, ask them if they had me!
